Artist's Description
I am amazed at the quality of this print when art paper is chosen. It's better than the original which is showing it's age a wee bit. I recommend buying a straight print of this and framing it yourself but Fine Art America's framing service is VERY good so if you want to get the job done and dusted, may be it would be the better option to pay the extra.
About the Packet House: Around 1828, a fast steam packet service ran along the Bridgewater Canal, carrying passengers relatively quickly in and out of Manchester. The Old Packet House, situated by the canal at the junction of Manchester Road and Navigation Road, was a stopping point for the service and tended to passengers needs while they waited for the boats arrival. Over time, it became a traditional public house and has served local customers in it's present form for over 100 years. It has resisted the pressure to become a modern "drinking emporium" and remains a classic British pub patronised by ordinary folk.

Just a note to buyers, I really recommend you select the watercolour paper option for this print, by my Mum, Joan Blinkhorn. I ordered one myself and it's as close to the original as you could imagine. I am a stern critic of these systems but FAA produces and amazing item in this case! I'm really chuffed that people have bought this painting - it was done for love of this little gem of a pub - it has changed hands and clientele many times over the years, but always it's architectural qualities persist and confound the best efforts of the breweries, drunks and traffic! Long live The Packet! (But we love the Navi too!).
